Many AI companion apps allow romance, and some allow explicit conversation between consenting adults. I review them because readers ask me to, and because pretending that side of the market does not exist would make my ratings less useful. I do it under these rules.
Adults only
This site is written for readers aged 18 and over. Pages that discuss apps allowing explicit conversation carry an "18+" label in the header and an adults-only note above the text.
Text conversation only
What I test and describe is written conversation: how a companion talks, remembers, comforts and respects a no. I do not test or rate anything else, and intimacy here is discussed the way a relationships column discusses it, in plain words and without detail for its own sake.
No explicit imagery on this site
There are no explicit images or explicit chat screenshots anywhere on this site, including reviews of apps that generate pictures. If an app has an image feature, I tell you it exists, what it costs and how it behaves, and I do not show you the output.
What I will not cover
- Image or video generators, and tools built to alter photographs of real people.
- Anything depicting a real person without their consent.
- Anything involving minors, in any form, including characters described as "aged up".
- Apps that market themselves to teenagers while allowing adult conversation.
A word of care
Pages about adult-oriented apps always link to a gentler alternative and to what I found in the app's privacy terms, because these conversations are stored on someone else's servers. If an app ever feels like it is replacing the people in your life rather than keeping you company between them, that is worth saying out loud to someone human.
