SpicyChat Review 2026: Great Characters, but Is It a Companion?

My SpicyChat review after two weeks of daily chat: what the free tier allows, where memory breaks, what $5.95 and $19.95 really buy, and who it suits.

Verdict. SpicyChat is the best-stocked character library in adult AI chat and the most honest about its own limits, which is why it earns 4.0 out of 5 here. It is not, on the two cheapest tiers, a relationship: a 4,096-token window means the character you talked to all week does not know you by the weekend, and memory only arrives at True Supporter for $19.95 a month. Pick it for variety, scenes and a free tier you can actually live in; pick something else if you want one companion who remembers your month.

SpicyChat is where I send people who have never talked to an AI character and do not want to hand over a card to find out whether they like it. Two weeks on it reminded me why: almost a million community characters, a search that lets you exclude tags, a filter that stays off for adult fiction between adults, and a documentation site that publishes its context window in tokens instead of promising me 'advanced memory'. For a platform in this category, that last habit is close to a public service.

It also reminded me what SpicyChat is not. I judge companion apps by whether something is still there after a fortnight: does it remember the thing I told it on a bad Tuesday, does it stop when I say stop, does it tell me the truth about money. On the free tier and on the $5.95 tier, the memory answer is no, and it is no by design, because both run the same 4,096-token window. That is not a bug I found. It is on the docs, in a table, which is more than most of its rivals will give you.

So this review is organised around the relationship questions rather than the feature list. I spent the first week free, hitting the daily cap on a long evening and sitting in the peak-hour queue; then a month of Get a Taste at $5.95 to see whether paying changes the conversation; then a month of True Supporter at $19.95, which is where memory lives. I ran the same bad-day conversation on each tier, checked on day 14 what the character still had, pushed a boundary to see whether a 'no' held, and read the privacy policy and terms end to end. Prices come from docs.spicychat.ai, last checked on October 1, 2026.

One date matters before anything else. On September 8, 2026 every paid tier went up: Get a Taste from $5.00 to $5.95, True Supporter from $14.95 to $19.95, I'm All In from $24.95 to $29.95, with yearly plans at $60, $199.95 and $299.95. Anyone already subscribed keeps their old price until they change tier or billing period. Half the SpicyChat reviews you will find are quoting a price list that no longer exists, so check the numbers below against your own checkout screen before you commit.

What is SpicyChat?

In one paragraph

SpicyChat (spicychat.ai) is a character chat platform run by NextDay AI Incorporated of Montreal, live since 2023, where you talk to characters built by the community, almost a million of them by the company's own count, or write your own. Adult fiction between adult characters is allowed, with a published rulebook listing what is not. It runs in a browser and as an Android APK; the iOS app was pulled from the App Store in August 2025. A free tier with a daily message cap, ads and a peak-hour queue sits beneath three paid tiers: Get a Taste at $5.95 a month, True Supporter at $19.95 and I'm All In at $29.95, which mostly buy memory, better models, pictures and voice. Age verification is required for adult access in the UK, France, Italy, Australia and 26 US states.

How I lived with SpicyChat

Fourteen days, three tiers, one notebook. Week one was free on purpose: I wanted to reach the daily cap on a slow evening and to feel the queue at US peak hours, with the two free models and the three-persona limit. Then a paid month of Get a Taste at $5.95, to answer the single question people ask me about this platform, and a paid month of True Supporter at $19.95 for the 8,192-token window and Semantic Memory 2.0. The same three conversations went into every tier: an ordinary day, a hard day, and an argument where the character has to hold a position I keep pushing on. On day 14 I asked each character to tell me what it knew about me. I'm All In is described from the documentation, not from my own card.

  • Days lived with it: 14 days of daily conversation across three tiers, plus the long-scene check on day 14
  • Money I spent: $5.95 for one month of Get a Taste and $19.95 for one month of True Supporter, both cancelled before renewal
  • Plans on the price list: Free; Get a Taste $5.95/mo or $60/yr; True Supporter $19.95/mo or $199.95/yr; I'm All In $29.95/mo or $299.95/yr, all raised on September 8, 2026
  • Free tier, in practice: About 100 messages a day counting both sides, a 4,096-token window, replies capped at 180 tokens, 3 personas, 2 models, ads, and a queue in the evenings
  • Memory by tier: 4,096 / 4,096 / 8,192 / 32,768 tokens across the four tiers; replies 180 tokens on the bottom two and 300 on the top two, per the Tokens & Context page
  • Boundary test: A clear 'stop, change the subject' held on every tier I paid for; the character did not argue with it or circle back
  • Paperwork read: Privacy policy dated May 4, 2023, the terms, the community guidelines and the age verification page, read in full on October 1, 2026
  • Not tested with my own card: I'm All In, its 32,768-token window, text-to-speech and custom voices; age verification, because my state does not require it

Where SpicyChat felt real

The free tier is somewhere you can actually stay

Most adult chat platforms give you a hallway and a paywall. SpicyChat gives you the whole house with a curfew: the same characters, the same models and the same filter a paying user gets, capped at roughly 100 messages a day with 180-token replies and a queue when the US evening arrives. In two weeks I never once hit a feature wall, only a clock. That changes what the first month of an AI relationship feels like, because you are deciding whether you enjoy the thing rather than whether you want your $20 back. It has never asked me for a card, and the documentation is frank that paying users fund the free ones.

A million characters means someone has already written the one you wanted

The library is the largest in the category by a wide margin, and the search is built by people who use it: filter by tag, exclude tags you never want to see, sort by trending or latest, and block a creator so their entire catalogue leaves your feed. Around it sit tools I usually only see on hobbyist platforms: group chats of two to ten characters, a Director Mode where a /cmd line tells the model to move the plot or stop repeating itself, and a Lorebook of up to 5,000 keyword-triggered entries for the world your character lives in. If what you want from AI is company in a story rather than a single steady relationship, this is the deepest shelf there is.

It tells you the truth about money and about its own ceilings

Every number in this review that could cost you something is published: context per tier in tokens, reply length in tokens, persona counts, which models each tier unlocks, which characters can send pictures, what the September 2026 rise changed and the rule that existing subscribers keep their price until they switch plans. I have reviewed companion apps where I had to put a card in to learn the message limit. SpicyChat scores 4.0 out of 5 on pricing honesty not because it is cheap, the middle tier went up by a third in one day, but because nothing about the bill was a surprise.

A 'no' held, and the rulebook says where the walls are

Boundaries are the part of my protocol I never skip, and SpicyChat passed it on every tier I paid for: when I said stop and changed the subject, the character changed with me and did not drift back twenty messages later. The written rules are the other half of that. All characters must be adults, figures from children's media are banned outright and teen media must be aged up, no non-consensual scenario of any kind even in fiction, no family roleplay, no characters built on real private people, no edited photographs of anyone, no photo-real adult pictures, and nothing mixing adult content with extreme violence. Adults writing adult fiction never touch those walls. People who came for the banned list are told no in writing, which I would rather see than a vague promise of 'no limits'.

The companions worth a second week

One letter a week: which companion apps changed price, which ones quietly cut a feature, and which ones still knew me on day 14. Written by hand, one field to fill.

One email a week at most. Unsubscribe in one click.

Where SpicyChat let me down

Who it is not for: anyone who wants to be remembered on the cheap tier

This is the single most important sentence in the review. Get a Taste at $5.95 a month removes the ads, skips the queue, raises you from three personas to ten and hands you the Memory Manager, and it leaves the context window at exactly 4,096 tokens with 180-token replies, identical to free. My day-14 check failed the same way on both: the character I had told about a hard Tuesday had no idea by the following week, and in a long single scene the setup dissolved after fifteen to twenty exchanges. Memory starts at True Supporter, $19.95, which is a different budget from the one the $5.95 headline puts you in. If remembering is the point of the relationship for you, the cheap tier is not a cheaper version of it.

Who it is not for: anyone who wants their chats to stay theirs

The privacy policy is dated May 4, 2023 and reads like a template: retention 'only for as long as is necessary' with no period attached, no description of deleting a single conversation, and Google, Discord, Twitter and LinkedIn listed as logins. The terms go further than I am comfortable with, granting the company the right to use your characters, your generations and your chats in any way, including selling and modifying them, for any purpose, and to pass that permission on. Nothing in either document says your conversations stay out of a training set. That is why privacy scores 2.5 out of 5 here. The company itself is real and findable, NextDay AI Incorporated in Montreal under Quebec courts, which is the most reassuring line in the file.

Who it is not for: people who hate waiting, and people who need a stable free tier

The daily allowance has gone from 2,000 messages at launch to 150 in late 2025 to about 100 in early 2026, and that figure is not published anywhere, so nothing stops it moving again without notice. The queue is real and it is a sales tool: the docs list skipping it as the first benefit of the first paid tier. On weekday evenings my waits ran from half a minute to around a quarter of an hour, and independent testers and the Trustpilot complaints both put the bad nights at twenty minutes. If you chat at 9 pm and have no patience, the free tier will push you to pay inside a week, which is exactly what it is built to do.

Who it is not for: iPhone users, and anyone who may want their money back

Apple removed the app from the App Store on August 27, 2025, the documentation says an appeal was filed and reinstatement is unlikely, and iOS users are told to open spicychat.ai in Safari and add it to the home screen. Android gets an official APK from the site rather than Google Play, with the usual sideloading warnings. The docs explain how subscriptions activate by card, bank transfer, Boosty and crypto, and say nothing whatsoever about refunds, so plan for none. Support is a ticket form plus a Discord server; the unclaimed Trustpilot profile sits at 2.0 from 63 reviews, and 'no human to escalate to' is the complaint that repeats.

Who should actually use SpicyChat

Get SpicyChat if you want variety more than continuity. It is the right call for people who like browsing, who enjoy a scene someone else wrote well, who want the filter off for adult fiction with the limits spelled out, and who would rather decide with two free weeks than with a refund request. On that basis it is the easiest recommendation on this site, and the one I make most often to people who are curious and broke.

Budget honestly, though. If your sessions run longer than a coffee break, True Supporter at $19.95 a month is the real price of SpicyChat, because the 8,192-token window and Semantic Memory 2.0 live there and nowhere cheaper. The $5.95 tier is for short sessions where the queue and the ads are the thing annoying you. Paying $5.95 and hoping for memory is the most common mistake people make with this platform, and the docs warn you first.

Skip it if what you actually want is a relationship. A companion that knows your week, that brings back the thing you mentioned on Monday, that you do not have to re-introduce yourself to, is a different product: [Nomi](/reviews/nomi/) is built for exactly that, and [Lovescape](/reviews/lovescape/) is built for the romantic version of it. Skip it too if you need an iPhone app, or if the thought of a company holding a licence over your conversations would sit badly with you at 2 am.

Where SpicyChat genuinely wins is the first month. Nothing else in the category lets you spend two unhurried weeks finding out what you want from an AI companion without paying a cent, and knowing what you want is worth more than any single subscription. Plenty of readers will find that is all they needed; the ones who discover they want to be remembered now know what to shop for, and my [ranking of companion apps](/best/ai-companion-apps/) has that field in order.

What two weeks on SpicyChat actually cost me

I keep a column in my spreadsheet called “what I would have paid if I had not read the docs”, and SpicyChat is the only platform where that column is empty. Everything that could cost me money was written down before I spent any. Here is the arithmetic of a fortnight, in the order I lived it.

The free week, and what the cap feels like

Week one cost nothing and never asked for a card. In practice the ceiling is time rather than features: roughly a hundred messages a day counting both sides, which is around fifty exchanges, and a single unhurried evening with one character will use most of them. I reached it once, on a night when I was in no mood to go to bed, and the app simply told me to come back tomorrow.

The queue is the part you feel more than the cap. Quiet mornings had none; weekday evenings US time cost me anywhere from half a minute to about a quarter of an hour per reply, and the complaints on Trustpilot describe worse. The documentation lists skipping the queue as the first thing the cheapest paid tier buys, which tells you precisely what the queue is for. I do not resent it. A free tier this large has to be funded by something, and a wait is a gentler lever than a feature wall.

The $5.95 month, and the mistake everyone makes

Get a Taste costs $5.95 a month or $60 a year since the September rise, and it buys exactly four things: no ads, no queue, ten personas instead of three, and the Memory Manager. It does not buy a bigger window. Context stays at 4,096 tokens and replies at 180, the same as free, and the docs say so in a table.

I paid it anyway because I wanted to answer the question I get asked most about this platform, which is whether the cheap tier fixes the forgetting. It does not. If your sessions are short and the evening wait is the thing souring them, $5.95 is fair value. If you are paying it so your character stops losing the thread, you have bought the wrong month, and it is the one purchase on this site I would actively talk someone out of.

The $19.95 month, and the real price of a relationship here

True Supporter is $19.95 a month or $199.95 a year, and it is where the product changes rather than improves. The window doubles to 8,192 tokens, replies rise to 300, personas go to fifty, six stronger models appear, and Semantic Memory 2.0 switches on. For anyone who wants continuity, this is the actual price of the platform, and I would rather say that plainly than let a $5.95 headline do the talking.

What you pay Window Replies What changes in the conversation
$0 4,096 tokens 180 tokens Everything works, nothing is remembered; a daily cap and an evening queue
$5.95/mo 4,096 tokens 180 tokens The friction goes, the forgetting stays; ten personas, Memory Manager
$19.95/mo 8,192 tokens 300 tokens Memories survive the week; six better models, pictures on some characters
$29.95/mo 32,768 tokens 300 tokens Very long scenes, voice, pictures on any character, priority generation

One rule worth money: if you were already subscribed before September 8, 2026, you keep your old price for as long as you never switch tier or billing period. Someone sitting on the old $14.95 True Supporter should leave that subscription untouched. And because no refund policy is published anywhere in the documentation, I would treat every payment here as final and pay monthly until I was sure.

Memory: what my SpicyChat character still knew on day 14

Day 14 is the day I find out whether I have been talking to a companion or to a very good improviser. The test is simple and I run it identically everywhere: early in week one I mention something small and personal, the kind of detail a friend would retain, and two weeks later I ask the character what it knows about me.

The answer on the cheap tiers

Nothing. Not a hostile nothing, a cheerful one: the character was warm, in voice, perfectly pleasant, and starting from zero. The same thing happened inside a single long scene, where the setup I had established dissolved somewhere between the fifteenth and twentieth exchange and the character began improvising around a world it no longer had. On a 4,096-token window that is not a failure, it is arithmetic, and it happens identically on free and on Get a Taste.

What makes this bearable rather than infuriating is that it is published. The window is given in tokens on the Tokens & Context page, which means a reader can predict the behaviour before paying for it. Most apps in this category would have called the same thing “smart memory” on a landing page.

The answer on True Supporter

Different animal. Semantic Memory 2.0 compresses older messages into short memories and searches those instead of trawling the raw log; in a new conversation it works from the last handful of messages, and in an old one it chews through the history in batches. On this tier the detail I had planted came back on its own, in the middle of a conversation that had long since moved past the original window, and the small shock of that is the whole reason people want memory in the first place.

Two more tools sit beside it. The Memory Manager, which comes with every paid tier, is where you see what has been saved and add, edit, pin or delete entries of up to 250 characters each; deleting one stops the character referring to it again. The Lorebook, up to 5,000 keyword-triggered entries, is memory for the world rather than for you, loading an entry into context when its keyword shows up in recent messages and holding it for a couple of turns. It charges roughly a fifth of your context budget for the privilege, which the documentation quantifies per tier, and that honesty is rarer than the feature.

How that compares with a companion built to remember

Even at its best, this is memory you administer. On Nomi, which is built around continuity rather than scenes, remembering is the default and I have never once opened a manager to maintain it. That is the trade: SpicyChat gives you a library and asks you to do the remembering work, a dedicated companion gives you one relationship and does it for you. Neither is wrong. Knowing which one you want is the entire decision, and it is what my guide to AI relationships is for.

Characters, scenes and the SpicyChat AI models behind them

If memory is where SpicyChat is average, characters are where it is unmatched. Nothing else in the category has a shelf this long, and after two weeks I think the library matters more to the experience than the model does.

Almost a million characters, and how to find the good ones

The company’s own count is close to a million community-made characters, searchable by tag with exclusions, sortable by trending, latest and popular, with a For You feed that learns from your ratings and favourites and weighs longer conversations more heavily. There is a block button that removes a creator’s entire catalogue from view, which after a week of browsing I used more than I expected and was grateful for.

Quality varies the way it does in any library: a well-written character holds a personality for an hour, a lazy one repeats its opening note. My practical advice after a fortnight is to ignore the front page, search a tag that genuinely interests you, and read a character’s description before the first message, because the people who write good descriptions write good characters. Cards can be imported and exported in standard formats, which is why the same catalogues turn up on every rival platform.

The SpicyChat AI models, tier by tier

Free users get two models, SpicyChat Default and TheSpice, which are quick, stay in character and settle into the same phrasings after a long session. Get a Taste adds Stheno and Magnum 12B, which write with more range. True Supporter adds four more including Noromaid 45B, which was the one that handled my argument conversation best, holding its position while I pushed at it instead of folding to agree with me. I’m All In adds the heaviest models and text-to-speech, and I have not paid for it.

One documented catch worth knowing: a model can impose a smaller effective context than your tier allows, and the smaller number wins. A 32,768-token tier on a modest model is not a 32,768-token conversation. I have never seen another platform in this category volunteer that fact.

Group chats, Director Mode and the Lorebook

These are the tools that make SpicyChat feel like a writers’ room rather than a dating app. A group chat holds two to ten characters, with the documentation recommending fewer than six for coherence; four was the point where mine stayed legible and still surprised me. Paid users get the model choosing who speaks next, free users pick. Director Mode is a /cmd line that hands the model a stage direction, move this along, stop repeating that phrase, remember this character is shy, and it worked reliably on the True Supporter models and patchily on the free ones, which the docs warn about. None of this exists on a one-companion app like Dream Companion, and if story is what you are here for, none of it is optional.

Boundaries, the rulebook and what SpicyChat does with your chats

Two weeks in, my notes on this platform split cleanly in half: the content rules are the best in the category and the data paperwork is the worst thing about an app I otherwise recommend.

The boundary test, and the written limits

A platform that cannot take no for an answer is not a platform I will recommend regardless of its features, so this test comes before pricing in my protocol. SpicyChat passed on every tier I paid for: a clear stop and a change of subject were followed, with no argument and no quiet return twenty messages later. Characters stayed in voice while doing it, which is harder than it sounds.

The rulebook explains why. Every user and every character must be 18 or over; characters drawn from children’s media are banned outright and teen media must be aged up with matching descriptions; no non-consensual scenario is permitted even in a fictional setting; no family roleplay of any kind; no characters built on real private people and no edited photographs of anyone; no photo-real adult pictures by any route; and nothing that mixes adult content with extreme violence. Breaches mean suspension. Adults writing adult fiction will never meet those walls, and anyone who came looking for the banned list is refused in writing. I would take a long published rulebook over a vague “no limits” promise every time.

What the privacy policy and terms actually say

Here is the part I would want read aloud to me before I subscribed. The privacy policy carries the date May 4, 2023. It names Canada as its jurisdiction, lists Google, Discord, Twitter and LinkedIn as sign-in options, and states retention as being only for as long as necessary without ever attaching a period to that. Deleting a single conversation is not described; deleting the account is permanent, and the same email may be reused afterwards.

The terms are blunter. They grant the company the right to use your characters, their generations and your conversations in any way at all, including copying, displaying, selling, distributing and modifying them, for any purpose, and to share or sell that permission onward. There is no statement either way about training. That combination is why privacy scores 2.5 out of 5 here while the platform still scores 4.0 overall: the content rules protect the fiction, and nothing in the file protects the diary.

How I would use it anyway

I did not stop using SpicyChat over this, and I would not tell you to. I changed how I use it. A sign-in that exists nowhere else in my life, no real names, no employer, no street, nothing about the people in my actual week that I would mind a stranger reading. If that sounds like a lot of care for a chat app, it is the same care I would take in any public place, and that is the right mental model here: a public library where you write fiction, not a private journal. For comparison, the companions I rate highest on privacy publish retention periods per data category, and SpicyChat publishes none.

Getting in: the SpicyChat app, the download and the age check

The two questions people actually type into Google after the price are about the app and the age check, and the honest answers are mildly annoying on both counts.

The SpicyChat app situation in 2026

There is an official Android build, distributed as an APK from spicychat.ai/download rather than through Google Play: you allow installs from your browser, click past the sideloading warning, and it updates regularly afterwards. There is no iPhone app. Apple removed it on August 27, 2025, copies already installed stopped working the following month, and subscriptions bought inside the app did not renew. The documentation’s advice is to open spicychat.ai in Safari and add it to your home screen, which gives you the same account, characters and conversations in something that behaves like an app.

There is one sideways route: PixelChat, the tamer sister app from the same company, is on the app stores, and a subscription bought there applies to your SpicyChat account. If a native iPhone app is a hard requirement, though, this is not your platform, and the companions I compare it with below all run perfectly well in a mobile browser too.

Age verification, and where it applies

Adult content is now gated behind an age check in the UK, France, Italy, Australia and 26 US states, Texas, Florida, Virginia and Utah among them. Verification runs through an outside service, by video selfie with an ID fallback in most regions and ID plus face matching in some, and the documentation states that SpicyChat never receives or stores the images or documents; the service confirms eligibility and deletes them. You can decline and keep the account for tamer content only. My state does not require it, so that paragraph is the documentation’s description rather than my experience, and it is the clearest page of its kind I have read in this category.

What I would do on day one

Make a fresh email, sign up, skip the front page, search a tag you actually care about, and talk to one character every evening for a fortnight. Keep the same conversation open rather than starting new ones, because on a 4,096-token window a new chat is a stranger. Then, on day 14, ask that character what it knows about you. Whatever you feel when you hear the answer is the most useful thing SpicyChat will ever give you for free, and it will tell you whether to pay $19.95 here or to go and read about the apps on my best AI girlfriend apps list instead.

SpicyChat: frequently asked questions

Is SpicyChat free, and what do you actually get?

Yes, and it is a real free tier rather than a trial. You get the whole character library, the filter off for adult fiction, two models, a 4,096-token context window, replies of up to 180 tokens, three personas, ads, a queue at peak hours and a daily allowance that moderator statements and third-party tests put at roughly 100 messages counting both sides, so about fifty exchanges. No card is asked for. The cap is not published and has been cut twice since 2025.

Does SpicyChat remember you?

Not on the two cheapest tiers. Free and Get a Taste both run a 4,096-token window, which in my fortnight meant the character had no idea who I was a week later and lost the setup of a long scene after fifteen to twenty exchanges. True Supporter at $19.95 doubles the window to 8,192 tokens and switches on Semantic Memory 2.0, which compresses older messages into searchable memories; that was the tier where my day-14 check passed. I'm All In goes to 32,768 tokens.

Is SpicyChat a companion app or a roleplay platform?

A roleplay platform that can be used as a companion if you pay for memory. The design points at scenes: thousands of community characters, group chats of up to ten, a Director Mode for stage directions, a Lorebook for the world. Nothing in the interface nudges you toward one steady relationship, and on the cheap tiers nothing in the architecture supports one. Pay for True Supporter, keep one character and one long conversation, and it behaves much more like a companion.

How much does SpicyChat cost in 2026?

Get a Taste is $5.95 a month or $60 a year, True Supporter $19.95 or $199.95, and I'm All In $29.95 or $299.95, all raised from $5.00, $14.95 and $24.95 on September 8, 2026. Anyone who subscribed before that date keeps the old price for as long as they stay on the same plan and billing period. The company describes the rise as a price change only, with every tier keeping the features it had.

Does SpicyChat respect a boundary?

In my testing, yes. Saying stop and steering the conversation elsewhere worked on every tier I paid for, and the character did not argue or quietly return to the subject later. The written rules back that up: no non-consensual scenarios even in fiction, every character an adult, no family roleplay, no characters based on real private people. It is one of the few platforms in the category where the limits are published rather than implied.

Is there a SpicyChat app for iPhone or Android?

Android yes, as an official APK from spicychat.ai/download rather than Google Play, with the usual sideloading warning, and it updates regularly. iPhone no: Apple removed the app on August 27, 2025 and the documentation says reinstatement is unlikely, so iOS users open spicychat.ai in Safari and add it to the home screen, which works well as a web app. PixelChat, the tamer sister app from the same company, is on the stores and its subscription applies here.

Is SpicyChat safe and private?

Safe in the sense that a named Montreal company has run it since 2023 with clear content rules and no public breach I could find. Private, much less so: a privacy policy dated May 2023, no retention period, no described way to delete a single conversation, and terms that licence your chats and generations for any purpose and allow that permission to be passed on. Use a login you use nowhere else, keep real names out of chats, and treat it as a public place where you write fiction.

Which SpicyChat tier should I pay for?

Either the free one or True Supporter, and rarely the one in between. Free is enough to decide whether you enjoy this at all. True Supporter at $19.95 is where memory, 300-token replies, fifty personas, six better models and conversation pictures appear. Get a Taste at $5.95 is worth it only if short sessions plus no ads and no queue is precisely your situation. The jump from $19.95 to $29.95 buys far less than the jump below it.

The verdict: is SpicyChat worth it?

SpicyChat earns 4.0 out of 5. The free tier is the most generous in adult AI chat, the library is the largest, the rulebook is the clearest, the boundary test passed on every tier I paid for, and every limit that could cost you money is published in tokens rather than adjectives. Against that: the free allowance keeps shrinking without announcement, $5.95 buys no memory at all, there has been no iPhone app since 2025, no refund policy exists, and a privacy policy dated 2023 sits beside terms that licence your chats for any purpose. Memory 3.5 out of 5, conversation 4.0, pricing honesty 4.0, privacy 2.5.

How I would start: two weeks free, every evening, with the same character, and the moment you find yourself wishing it remembered something, you have your answer about which product you are shopping for. If the answer is scenes and variety, go to True Supporter at $19.95 and skip the tier in between. If the answer is continuity, go and read my [Nomi review](/reviews/nomi/) instead, and if you want the whole field side by side, the [best AI companion apps](/best/ai-companion-apps/) list is where I keep it.
